GoAML Registration

The goAML software has been developed by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to be used by financial intelligence units worldwide, aiming to improve the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing. As per the UNODC, more than 50 Financial Intelligence Units around the world are a part of the system at present. Such units use and analyze the data recorded in the system in order to control and prevent money laundering and terrorist financing.

United Arab Emirates is among the countries which participate in the goAML system. Companies which are engaged in certain activities, for example, corporate or financial services, are obliged to register in the goAML system and use it to submit all relevant reports. If a company fails to implement goAML into their processes (if such requirement is applicable based on the sector of activities and business model), it could result in penalties and revocation of the license to provide the services which are subject to goAML registration.
