Curacao Gambling License

Due to comparably simple and cost-effective licensing process , Curacao iGaming license has become the world’s most popular online gambling license. A lot of major casino brands operate under Curacao gaming licenses, and it is usually the first choice for those who are entering the online gambling business.

All new licenses issued in Curacao are, in fact, sub-licenses, which are granted to new operators (casinos) by one of the four main master license holders as a type of franchise. Ministry of Justice of Curacao initially granted four master licenses to the following entities:

Cyberluck Curacao N.V.
Antillephone N.V.
Gaming Services Provider N.V.
Curacao Interactive Licensing N.V.

Currently, only Cyberluck Curacao and Antillephone are actively issuing sub-licenses, i.e., they are acting as a Curacao online gambling licensing authority which grants licenses to new operators. The costs and licensing processes of Cyberluck and Antillephone are a bit different, however, generally, they issue the same license.

Government of Curacao is constantly reviewing the requirements for issuing and maintaining the licenses and it is highly possible that obtaining or maintaining the license will become more and more difficult. Nevertheless, this should not be considered a downturn. Stricter approach will improve the reputation of Curacao gaming licenses and it is unlikely that these changes will make the licenses inaccessible for new online gambling operators or cause any issues to the current compliant operators. Curacao allows the iGaming licenses to operate worldwide, with some exceptions. From the legal side, even if the country does not allow online gambling, it is not obligatory to limit platform access for these jurisdictions. From this point of view, Curacao license is different from gambling licenses of Isle of Man or Gibraltar: regulators of these jurisdictions require the operators to provide legal opinions from local law firms of the jurisdictions from which they intend to accept players; these legal opinions must state that online gambling is allowed there.

Under the Curacao gaming license, it is allowed to accept payments in both crypto and in fiat currencies. Growing demand for accepting payments solely in virtual currencies exhibits the increasing popularity of crypto casinos. Legal structuring of a crypto casino might differ from a company which accepts both fiat and crypto, or fiat currencies only.
