UAE tax residency

If you spend significant amount of your time abroad, you might not have a clear tax situation. Becoming a UAE tax resident, at least for the period during which you receive the biggest portion of your income, could be a solution, since the UAE has an elaborate network of double taxation avoidance treaties in place and the personal income of UAE tax residents is not taxed.

Nomad Law will handle your UAE tax residency application process from A to Z. We will assist you in communicating with the authorities and take care of all aspects of the application. During the process, we will give you a detailed guidance on banking, health insurance, rent, maintenance of the UAE tax residency as well as other tips and tricks useful for a day-to-day life of a UAE tax resident.

The residency can be obtained as quickly as two to three weeks. We will prepare all necessary documents and submit applications before your arrival, so only 5 to 7 days will be needed on your behalf to finalize the process.

In cases in which the TRC (tax residency certificate) is required, Nomad Law remains at client's disposal and assists in fulfilling the additional requirements. The TRC is a document which proves that a specific country considers you not only a person who resides in it, but a tax resident as well. In the UAE, every person who is issued an Emirates ID, is granted a resident status, however, in order to obtain the tax residency certificate - a document which can be provided to the authorities of other jurisdictions, proving that the person is a UAE taxpayer - additional requirements must be met. The TRC grants the client the possibility to benefit from the double taxation avoidance agreements and ensures the protection from being taxed in another country (read more about the difference between a resident and a tax resident here).

Nomad Law’s relationship with the client does not end after the Emirates ID and/or the tax residency certificate is issued. Our goal, with every customer, is to build a relationship of trust, one in which we are always reachable and able to help with different queries on a wide variety of legal, tax and other daily matters. For clients who travel a lot, Nomad Law will take care that their administrative matters and related affairs are properly managed while they are away.
