United Arab Emirates –audit of financial statements for Free Economic Zone companies

At federal level, the audit of financial statements in the UAE is not required, therefore, there are no universal guidelines, and it depends on the free zone in which the company is incorporated. Authorities of certain free zones, such as DMCC or ADGM, require the company to submit audited financial statements annually (with some exceptions, for example, micro companies). Some free zones have lists of approved auditors, while other do not require the financial books to be audited at all.

The approved auditors vary not only by the free zone, but also by price, extent and auditing process, therefore, it might prove challenging to select the most suitable auditor and coordinate the procedure.
